Russian Bands

I stumbled upon the group Pompeya while I was randomly looking for music on YouTube. On the first listen to their song '90' I was hooked. It is rare when I find an artist or band and instantly like all of their songs. At that moment I knew I had found some sort of hidden musical treasure (no, not indie at all). However, my heart sank when I came to the realization that the chances of a 'unknown' Moscow band (that is by western standards) would probably have zero chances of touring in the U.S. So when I found out that Pompeya was going to be playing in Los Angeles I literally freaked. LITERALLY. I proceeded to abstain from hyperventilating over the phone while informing my friends of the concert. They didn't have the most exciting reactions as they could barely understand what I was saying and had no idea who the group was. Yet, my persuasiveness worked like a charm and we found ourselves on Sunset Blvd. on a Saturday night. After a few hours of amazing music, paisley rompers, getting hit on by a musician who was desperate for love, and interrogating drunk guys who love sandwiches I can say I had the best/entertaining night.

Hahhah is all I can say!

Sweet Stuff

My dreams came true... sort of. I got to see two of my favorite artists that I'd been crushing on for years! Not only were their voices amazing but so were they!  I'm totally fan girling right now so just imagine me during their performances. I'm disappointed that I won't be able to share my video of Justin Nozuka singing soulfully with his guitar, but I guess sound cloud will just have to do.

Teddy Geiger
It's really possible to be that handsome and sing that well

"Don't Stop Dancing Girl"

You know that moment when your favorite songs comes on and you just bust out dancing, or when your friend randomly shows up at your doorstep with brownie Sundays, or when you get an e-mail informing you that your new order of clothes has just been shipped? Err okay...so maybe not everyone can relate but this totally describes my level of excitement!

Last Friday I attended my university's orientation. It was a long and informative day that did nothing but my confirm my beliefs that my school is pretty darn awesome. The endless opportunities and global connections had me smiling from ear to ear, but enough with bragging about my school. I had been stressing about my housing situation since the day I got my acceptance because spots were filling up so fast. After orientation we headed over to an apartment complex to find out about leasing. To be honest, I had no idea why we were even considering this place because 1. it was super expensive 2. luxurious, thus meaning 3. it's hella expensive. Well it figures, after a ten minute tour of the rooms and building I walked out of there with a contract to an apartment. Yeah, it just all happened so fast, it took quite awhile for the information to be absorbed. I don't think the fact that I will be leaving my parent's house in less than three weeks has sunk in, but moving into an apartment has! I'm super excited as well as busy because I'm planning every single detail of how I want my things be organized and arranged, according to a similar color pattern. All the meticulous planning has reassured me that a career in interior design is not for me. I bet the finished product for my clients would not only be super late but most likely reflect my individual tastes instead of their own....

Hehe, but I digress as usual and am not quite done describing that awesome Friday. After a few transactions my mom and I went to grab a lunch consisting of massive burritos and me squealing over my new apartment! While running my mouth I abruptly stopped mid sentence and realized that the day was about to get better. After a quick change into "comfortable" dance attire, I hopped onto a train to meet my friend at a concert venue. We were going to be seeing my favorite DJ of exactly 4 years, KASKADE!!!! This truly was the best concert  dance party that I had attended in my 19 years of living. Kaskade himself, the quality surround sound, exuberant crowd, and glow in the dark venue was amazing. I really recommend those who are not really into to this type of scene to branch out and try it once. Who knows, you may end up all glittered up like the rest of us Freaks of Nature :)

O.C Fair & Young the Giant

Went to the Orange County fair this weekend and had a blast! I was super excited to taste the large array of food choices they had available, especially since the only time I get to see this stuff is when I am drooling over yet another episode featured on the Food Network. I was like a kid in a candy store except it was a more like a food lover's galore. There were onion rings the size of my hands and hot dogs the length of my arm. With so much good food, one wonders how do you keep from getting so full? That, my friend is a good question. It's all mental. I kept telling myself that I would not let my stomach fail me, and it didn't, yay!!! Okay, I am aware I sound a bit crazy but I swear it worked for my friend and I. Besides the fabulous food, I was also excited to be at the fair because I would be seeing  a band I really liked called Young the Giant. They were amazing, the instrumentals were awesome, and Sameer the lead singer sounded the same live; that's how you can really distinguish a true, talented artist!

Wake Up Dazed Girl

Everything seems so surreal these days, or perhaps the shock of my admittance still hasn't worn off. Either way, you'll find me with a distant look in my eye and overly hyper energy due to the unholy amounts of coffee I've been drinking to stay awake. There is so much on my mind because I'm officially a working girl!! Well, more so a temporary worker, but I am super stoked as well as grateful to have this job especially with all the upcoming expenses of moving. I also have mad respect for you guys who work long hours because eight is my cut off point...seriously. Any how, I can't help but notice that summer is slipping right before my eyes! I've been so focused on work that I've forgotten that this is the season of sunshine, happiness, and absolute nothingness. Although this is entirely my fault for not taking the initiative to go through with plans, I am still trying to get accustomed to the routine of being in an office environment instead of a classroom or lecture hall. If anything, the part time transition has made me realize a few new things about myself.

1. Awesome probability solver
For example, paycheck+newly found appeal for online shopping = the probability of a fashionable broke girl!

2. Ongoing dislike for coffee
To make it more tolerable I add hot chocolate and about a dozen or so french vanilla creamers. Yeah, real healthy, and probably the reasoning behind my abnormal bursts of energy.

3. Touch Critic
I admit, I'm pretty harsh on myself because of my own high expectations. I feel that oh so natural (annoying) tendency of mine to try to "never" fail, stirring inside. Once it starts, it gets pretty hard to control. And in all honesty, this mindset has it's pros and cons. Pro: endless drive to succeed. Con: Rest and relaxation is uncertain, thus leading me to be off the edge.

4. Positivity
Forgive me if you believe this statement may contradict with the above, but I truly do believe that I am acquiring a more positive attitude. Like I referenced before, I don't like making mistakes in terms of work(who does). While there is the obvious frown and frustrating sigh, I've realized how else am I supposed to learn? Also, I sincerely appreciate the opportunity and look forward to what these growing skills can obtain for me in the future.

So, with these newly discovered tendencies of mine and an adaptation to a new environment, I believe I can finally start enjoying summer. A Real summer! You see, blogging sort of centers me back into focus and relaxes my nerves; a total stress reliever.

*On a side note, simply because I seem to being doing a lot of those lately: Went to a Ron Pope concert with one of my friends. While we had plenty of inside jokes (mainly involving his massive lumberjack, grizzly bear beard he was rocking) it was an amazing night. Loved the intimate concert settings and Ron's soulful voice.

Amazingness

I saw Coldplay in concert Friday night and still get goosebumps every time I think about it. It was an absolutely beautiful, mind-blowing phenomenal experience and I will have you know that a few tears spilled from my eyes. That's pretty much all I can rack my brain to say besides, "it's one of those things that you must see for yourself", because it truly was. Coldplay is amazing. Chris Martin is amazing (he sounded so awesome cursing in his British accent). And I'm more obsessed than I was before.
